Angel Auntie by Julie Wealleans

"It's like Liverpool Street Station!" exclaimed Mummy Number Two,

When trying to have a quiet bath and people were walking through .

"It's like Blackpool Illuminations!" she called out when all the lights

Were left on all over the house, like the famous Northern sights.

She didn’t like cold draughts, or coffee that wasn’t hot,

Brandy had to be served correctly, it went straight back if not!

An ardent fan of Sir Cliff Richard since she was very young,

She knew every lyric of every song he’d ever sung.

Mum, sister, wife, nanny, friend, so loved was she,

And a much adored auntie and godmother to me.

On my christening day, Mum asked the preacher man ,

To hand me to Auntie Jeannie to hold, he carried out this plan ,

She was so pleased and proud, and held me close awhile ,

As if I were her very own, with a loving smile .

I stayed at her house many times on each school holiday,

Darren, Cheryl and myself would spend hours at play.

A very special part of my life, my precious MN2,

Many a phone call we would share about some crossword clue

All our hearts were broken when the angels took her away

Lights went out in all our lives on that devastating day.
